Comments for the student: Charlie talked about passion for a career in wealth management but frankly provided no evidence that he's working toward that goal. Already being a junior, I encouraged him to seek on-campus involvements that demonstrate his interest in the career path. Examples include Investment Club, Economics Club, and GAME Forum, among others. The Student-Managed Fund (FIN 450/451) could also be a great opportunity for him given his declared interests. I also encouraged him to do homework on the companies and positions he applies for because interviewers will always want to know that you're not just willing to accept any job. I'm confident he could pivot and make these improvements as he works toward graduation next year.
